Embroidered T-shirts require more than choosing a logo and thread color. Fabric weight, stitch density, backing, thread tension, placement and embroidery size all affect how clean the finished design looks and whether the garment stays flat after stitching.

A good embroidery file can still produce a poor result if the T-shirt underneath is too light, too stretchy or poorly stabilized. Before we finalize the embroidery setup, we usually look at the fabric weight, knit structure and the size of the embroidery area first.
Heavier cotton jerseys usually handle medium-density embroidery more easily, while lightweight or stretch fabrics need more care. If the design is too dense for the fabric, the area can become stiff, pull inward or start to pucker around the edges. In that case, changing the backing, reducing unnecessary stitch density or adjusting the design itself often gives a cleaner result than simply running the same file again.

Chest, sleeve and back embroidery do not behave exactly the same way on a T-shirt. A small chest design is usually straightforward, but sleeve embroidery has less working space and sits closer to seams. Large back embroidery can also add noticeable weight and stiffness if the stitch area becomes too dense.
During sampling, we check the actual placement on the garment rather than relying only on measurements from the artwork file. A design that looks centered on screen can sit too high, too close to the armhole or slightly off once the T-shirt is worn. This is why placement, embroidery size and the garment pattern need to be checked together before bulk production.

Artwork still needs to be digitized for embroidery before it can run on the machine. The stitch direction, underlay, density and sequence all affect how the finished design sits on the fabric. Fine lines may need to be simplified, small text may need more space, and some areas cannot carry the same amount of detail as the original artwork.
We normally test the embroidery on the actual or a closely matched production fabric before approval. At this stage, we look for puckering, loose stitches, thread breaks and areas that feel unnecessarily heavy. Backing, thread tension or stitch density can then be adjusted before the embroidery specification is confirmed for bulk production.
Flat embroidery is the most flexible option for T-shirts. It works well for chest logos, sleeve details and larger back designs, and it can usually hold more fine detail without making the garment feel too bulky.
3D puff embroidery is different. It works better with bold lettering and simpler shapes, but the fabric needs enough structure to support the raised effect. On lightweight or very stretchy jersey, a dense 3D design can distort the fabric or feel too heavy. For that reason, we normally decide the embroidery style together with the T-shirt fabric and artwork rather than treating them as separate choices.

A well-embroidered design will not save a T-shirt if the body shape, shoulder drop or sleeve proportion feels off. For most embroidered tees, brands usually want the decoration to support the product, not overpower it. The garment still needs to look balanced on its own.
For streetwear and fashion projects, a boxy or relaxed fit usually works well because it gives the embroidery enough visual space without making the T-shirt feel crowded. During development, we normally check body width, shoulder shape, sleeve length and overall length together with the embroidery placement so the sample looks balanced from both the front and the back.

Labels and packaging are usually confirmed after the garment and embroidery sample are close to approval. At that point, we can match the neck label, care label, hangtag and packaging to the final T-shirt rather than treating them as separate items.
For private label projects, the important part is consistency. Label size, placement, folding method and packaging should follow the same approved specification in bulk production. If the garment still needs fit or embroidery changes, we prefer to solve those first before locking the final branding details.

Before bulk production, we recommend approving a physical sample with the actual or closely matched fabric, embroidery size, placement, thread colors and backing. This gives us a reference for both the garment and the embroidery instead of approving the artwork on screen only.
After sample approval, bulk production can include:

• Embroidery on cut panels or finished garments, depending on the placement and construction

During bulk production, we compare embroidery placement, stitch appearance and garment shape against the approved sample. If the embroidery is close to a seam, collar or sleeve edge, placement control becomes especially important because even a small shift can change how the design looks when the T-shirt is worn.

Mediumweight and heavyweight cotton jersey usually gives embroidery a more stable base, especially for designs with moderate stitch density. Lightweight or highly stretchy fabrics can also be embroidered, but the backing, stitch density and artwork may need to be adjusted to reduce puckering or distortion.
Puckering can come from several things, including excessive stitch density, unsuitable backing, incorrect thread tension or a fabric that is too light for the design. We normally check these factors on the actual garment during sampling rather than assuming the embroidery file will behave the same way on every fabric.
Yes, but 3D puff works best with relatively simple shapes, bold lettering and fabrics with enough structure to support the raised effect. Very fine details and small text are usually better suited to flat embroidery.
There is no single minimum size that works for every design. Letter height, font shape, thread thickness, fabric texture and stitch direction all affect readability. If artwork contains very fine lines or small lettering, we may simplify or adjust those areas during digitizing before making the sample.
Yes. Chest, sleeve and back embroidery are all common, but each position has different space and construction limits. Sleeve embroidery sits closer to seams, while large back embroidery may add more weight and stiffness. Placement should be confirmed on the actual sample before bulk production.
